WHS Band Boosters

The Wakefield High School Band Boosters is the support organization for the Wakefield High School Band program. All parents and friends of the band program are considered members of the Band Boosters. It is only with the complete support of all Band Boosters that we are able to provide a quality music education, filled with all possible opportunities, for our students.

Who are the Band Boosters?

Membership is open to any person who has interest in the Wakefield High School Bands, and who is the parent or legal guardian of any student actively participating, or intending to participate, in one or more of the WHS bands or auxiliary groups associated with the Band. Membership becomes effective upon payment of stated Fair Share.

Our Purpose:

The purpose of this organization is to support the Wakefield High School Band programs. The organization assists the Band Director in those activities and programs identified by the Band Director for the Wakefield High School Bands and the auxiliary groups associated with the Band. The Band Boosters also promote the Band to the community.

Opportunities to be involved:

The Band Boosters manage the logistics of transporting equipment, instruments, and students to competitions. Volunteer parents drive rental trucks and load and unload all equipment needed for competitions, fit and size uniforms, load and unload uniforms, volunteer at every event, supply medical assistance, transport the pit equipment on the field at competitions and all home footballs games, cut and sew Band flags as well as design and make the necessary props each year. Band Boosters chaperone each day and hour of Band Camp, provide snacks for trips and special occasions, as well as hospitality for concert and symphonic band events.

The Band Boosters provide tremendous support to The Heart of Carolina Invitational; a full day event involving over 250 volunteers, 16-20 visiting bands and 3500 spectators. They assist the Band by lining the practice fields, stand on the sidelines with bug spray, water, provide loud applause at practices, fill the Band candy machine, and coordinate the Spring Awards banquet and much, much more.

In addition, they contribute countless hours of fundraising to help the Band meet their annual budget while managing expenses. Yes, it is a lot of work, BUT it is some of the most rewarding time you will ever spend with the greatest group of students and fellow parents you can possibly imagine.
