Want to earn your fair share, have a great time, and get to know other parents? Then the RBC is the place for you.

What is the RBC?
A great place to earn your fair share! The band operates a concession stand during Hurricanes games, NCSU basketball games, concerts and other events held at the RBC Center.

What is the time commitment?
The Wakefield Band has to work a minimum of 24 events, however, you can work as often as you want and we have opeings for or only work once, the decision is up to you. Come try it once, I guarantee you will love it! A typical Hurricanes game will have the workers arriving around 5:15-5:30pm, depending on game time, and we are usually finished around 10 pm. Our contract will run from September 2008 to June 2009. Our goal is to complete our contract by April and any events after that will be extra money.

How much can I earn?
We have a guarantee from the RBC center. It is either $30 per event or however much we make divided by the number of people working, whichever is greater. We typically always make more than the minimum guarantee of $30. The amount made depends on the attendance of the event. A big hockey or basketball game will bring us more money.

How many people work an event?
Typically we have 8-10 people working a full size concession stand. There are times when we have the opportunity to work extra events, outside of our contract, where 2-3 people are needed to work a small stand such as a beer cart or a Dip-n-dots cart.

What do I have to wear?
It is a requirement of the RBC Center for us to wear black pants, no jeans allowed, black closed toe-shoes (Crocs are not allowed) and a collared shirt. We have to all match with our shirts, therefore, we wear the Wakefield Band Booster Golf Shirt or a burgundy polo type shirt. We are also required to wear a hat or visor, which have to all be the same and an apron. The group leader will provide the aprons for each event. You are on your feet the entire time on a concrete floor, so comfortable shoes are a must. The floors do become wet, so non-slip soles are very helpful.

Any other requirements?
All workers must attend ALE training since our booths do sell alcohol. The single evening training dates and times will be announced shortly and are held at the RBC center.

How do I sign up?
Once the contract has been signed by the Band Booster Board and given back to the RBC, we will post the events with dates, we have to work. You can sign up to work by emailing Karyn Knight at kknight@nc.rr.com . All events will be staffed on a first come, first served basis. If you would like to be on the list of quickly available workers, please email Karyn and let her know. That list is for people who can be called 2-3 hours before an event to work. There are occasions when we get the opportunity to work an extra event.

If you have other questions, please contact Karyn Knight.
