In its first year as a school, Wakefield High School fielded its first Winter Guard. The group's goal was to learn the basics techniques and skills necessary for members of a color guard. They competed at the Broughton, CD Hylton, and Wakefield (the first WinterBlast!) shows. Their second place finished at CD Hylton earned the first trophy by a Wakefield High School organization. The group finished the season by competing at Atlantic Indoor Association championships in Fairfax, Virginia and earning 9th place. In its first year as a school, Wakefield High School will field its first Winter Guard. Paul Orsett will instruct the group. The group's goal will be to learn the basics techniques and skills necessary for members of a color guard while enjoying the excitement of performance. The group will perform to "Leader of the Band" by John Fogerty.
