In 2004-2005, the Wakefield Bands continued to achieve at a high level. At Festival, which was once again hosted by our band program, the Concert Band performed music selected from Level IV. Their selections were "Loch Lomond" by Frank Ticheli and "America Verses" by Timothy Broege. Their march was "Alamo" by Karl King. The Wind Ensemble performed music selected from Level VI. Their selections were "A Movement for Rosa" by Mark Camphouse and "Life Dances" by William Himes. Their march was "March of the Belgian Parachutists" by Pieter Leemens. In preparation for festival, the Wind Ensemble performed a joint concert with the Wake Forest-Rolesville High School Wind Ensemble. Both groups performed at the Wakefield PTSA Festival of the Arts and their normal pre-festival concert. At this concert we were fortunate enough to receive comments from Mr. Tom Jenner and Mr. David Hawks. Both bands performed very well and received overall SUPERIOR ratings. The Wind Ensemble received a Superior Rating from all four judges while the Concert Band came up just one judge short of this perfect mark. Wakefield was one of only three band programs to have multiple ensembles achieve this level of performance or better. This is the first time that the Wakefield Band program has received Superior ratings in back to back years.
