In 2005-2006, the Wakefield Bands continued to achieve at a high level. At Festival, which was once again hosted by our band program, the Concert Band performed music selected from Level IV. Their selections were "The Silent Hills of My Childhood" by George Farmer and "Dies Irae" by Elliot del Borgo. Their march was "Valley Forge" by Karl King. The Wind Ensemble performed music selected from Level VI. Their selections were "Symphony for Band" by Vincent Persichetti and "Vox Populi" by Richard Danielpour. Their march was "Marche Indienne" by Adolphe Sellenick. The Wind Ensemble had the opportunity to work with Mr. Tom Jenner and both groups got to work with Dr. Larry marks from UNC-Charlotte as they prepared for festival. At our pre-festival concert we were fortunate enough to receive comments from Mr. Jeffrey Fuchs and Dr. Michael Votta, both of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Both bands performed very well and received overall SUPERIOR ratings. The Wind Ensemble received a Superior Rating from all four judges while the Concert Band came up just short of this perfect mark. The Wakefield Band program has received Superior ratings for three consecutive years with both ensembles now.
