In 2007-2008, the Wakefield Bands took new strides by splitting into three ensembles. At Festival Concert Band I performed music selected from Level III and Level IV. Their selections were “Night Cries” by Elliot Del Borgo and "Joyous Alleluias" by Jared Spears. Their march was “St. Petersburg March” by Johnny Vinson. Concert Band II performed music selected from Level IV. Their selections were "Overture for Winds" by Charles Carter and "The Last to Defend" by David Shaffer. Their march was "Alamo March" by Karl King. The Wind Ensemble performed music selected from Level VI. Their selections were "Suite Francaise" by Darius Milhaud and "Limerick Daydreams" by Nathan Daughtrey. Their march was "Original Suite Mvt. I-March" by Gordon Jacobs. At our pre-festival concert we were fortunate enough to receive comments from Mr. Mark Beamish and Mr. David Rockefeller. All three bands performed very well. Concert Band II received Superior rating. The Wind Ensemble and Concert Band I received Excellent Ratings.

In April, the Wind Ensemble performed the fourth WHS Bands Concerto Scholarship Concert in which we raise funds for the Band Booster Scholarship. In it we featured student soloists Aaron Robinson and Alanna Hawley. Thanks to assistance from Yamaha and Vic Firth we were able to feature professional percussionist and composer Dr. Nathan Daughtrey in a performance of David Gillingham’s Concerto for Marimba. All three ensembles performed an outstanding Spring Concert full of varied literature in May.
