Each winter more than 1000 people flock to the Wakefield campus to participate in the annual WinterBlast! Winter Guard and Winter Percussion Competition. This event is sponsored by the Wakefield Band Boosters and is governed by Winter Guard International and our local circuit, Atlantic Indoor Association. This circuit has member units based in cities from southern Maryland through Virginia and across central and eastern North Carolina.

Participating units are classified as:

Scholastic: (S) Units whose membership comes from the SAME High School or a school that feeds to that particular High School.

Independent: (I) Units whose members are not necessarily associated with a particular school.

In a normal year we will have between 40 and 50 units visiting our campus. A visitor to this event will see the best of today’s youth showing off their talents and skills.
